ā€˜This game is looking simply amazing, who wouldnā€™t want to zip around town in a Mini doing insane stunts and unbelievable tricks!ā€™ -Video Game Review

ā€˜Each vehicle is dosed with reflection mapping, helping the cars shine as if they'd just rolled out of a hot wax bath. ! the vehicles are instilled with enough polys to make this critic mutter, "Pretty damn good!" ā€™ -GameSpy

ā€˜The Italian Job is a fast-paced game with non-linear driving lanes. You can almost go anywhere on the huge maps, though if you wish to complete the gameā€™s missions you will need to go from point A to point B. How you traverse the streets to get there is up to you. This game is smooth and seamless and fans of mission-based race games will likely find this an enjoyable ride.ā€™ ā€“Xbox.Gamezone.com

Atari Australia Press Quotes - Xbox

Buckle up for high-speed hijinks in Eidos Interactive's The Italian Job for the Nintendo GameCube.Where's Michael Caine? When given the opportunity to base this car-chase extravaganza on the original 1969 The Italian Job or the Mark Wahlberg (that's Marky Mark for you funksters) remake, Eidos opted for the latter. Just don't expect to see any actors from either film. The developers at Climax (UK) have stripped away all extraneous story elements and are sticking with what the fans have paid good money to see -- fine old-fashioned car chases. Players assume the role of Charlie Croker and his gang of thieves as they attempt to exact their revenge on one of their former members.Cut to the ChaseBefore each mission, players are treated to an in-game cut-scene which briefly ties the current story events to your objectives. While your initial missions are little more than driving from point A to point B, later levels require you to outrun the cops, tail other cars and make the occasional car swap.Traveling at high speeds through downtown L.A. and Hollywood can seem pretty daunting at first. An on-screen radar gives you a basic idea of where your current objective is as well as divulging the locations of any nearby hostiles. There's no arrow pointing exactly where you need to go, so players are given a decent bit of freedom as to how to reach an objective. The only limitations are time and the occasional encounter with one of L.A.'s finest. If you're just learning the game or fancy a Sunday drive, you can also hop into Free Roam mode. With unlimited access to your surroundings, you can take your time scouting out seconds-saving shortcuts.Small but FierceYou'll get to hop behind the wheel of 10 different vehicles. None attract quite the attention like the Mini Cooper does. These small, yet versatile vehicles accelerate quickly and can easily squeeze through traffic. For added "oohs" and "ahhs," you can even drive on two wheels if you take a corner sharply enough. Just be careful not to scrape the new paint job.The Italian Job features a fairly realistic damage-modeling system. Your car will visibly crumple as it tags other cars, buildings and trees.Players are given a grade at the end of each stage. Your score is based on objective completion, car damage, time taken and any stunts you manage to pull off. Sorry, but you can't get bonus points for road kills.Looking for a good Summer Job?Race fans looking for something a little different should definitely invest some time with The Italian Job. Think Crazy Taxi without the ungrateful passengers and bountiful product placement. This is one job that just might pay off.

Get in, get out and get even as the new Mini Cooper screeches onto PS2 courtesy of Climax and Eidos

First there was the original movie, then a game of the movie some years later. Now the movie is being brought back to the silver screen, remade, so guess what? You got it - a new Italian Job game for PS2, brought to you by Climax and Eidos.

The timeless British cinematic classic needs little introduction. The plot is the same as it always has been, with betrayal, traffic agitating, gold-stealing et al; you know the deal. However, things are a little different this time around. As in the movie (which stars Charlize Theron, Edward Norton and Mark Wahlberg), the new Mini Cooper is the car of choice, in which you can tear around the streets of LA, bomb down staircases and speed through sewers. There are three gaming modes to enjoy - Story, Circuit and Stunt Driving, the latter of which offers something a little different to your average four wheel adventure, while the ability to explore the many facets of LA, and Hollywood of course, is another notable selling point. Fifteen missions woven together with cut-scenes mean that aficionados of The Italian Job can get the full interactive experience on PS2.

  • Story mode based on the new Italian Job film features 15 varied, high-octane missions
  • Race around the film's locations with up to two players in Circuit mode
  • DVD-style extras including movie footage, interviews with the film's cast, film stills, concept art etc
