Action/Arcade Videogame Captures Excitement of Popular T.V. Series

LOS ANGELES, CA - December 5, 2002 - Crave Entertainment today announced that Beyblade, for the PlayStation® game console, shipped. Beyblade captures the excitement of the popular television series based on a traditional Japanese spinning-top game called Bei-goma, which is emerging as a sports entertainment phenomenon.

In Beyblade, players become active competitors as they use strategy to build and customize their battle equipment in pursuit of becoming the World Beyblade Champion. Each Beyblade is as unique as its owner. Players may customize the assembly of five key parts - The Bit, Attack Ring, Weight Disk, Spin Gear and Blade Base. The series airs daily on ABC Family kids' action/adventure block in the U.S. and on YTV in Canada.

The game features more than ten different characters to choose from based on the anime style of the television show and the ability to battle a wide variety of AI controlled opponents as skills are mastered throughout the game. Players can defeat an opponent by knocking them out of the stadium or playing a game of "cat and mouse" with them until they no longer spin.

An intuitive control scheme allows users to quickly master the combat system. The game includes a fun tournament mode as well as the versus mode that allows players to challenge a friend. All of the action inside the Beystadium is accompanied by commentary. Hip sound effects are reminiscent of the Beyblade television show.

Through d-rights, Inc. and Corus Entertainment's Nelvana, merchandising agent, Hasbro has the rights to manufacture tops and other toys based on the Beyblade sports entertainment brand in the U.S. and various other countries. Originally Beyblade products are marketed, manufactured and distributed in Japan by Takara Co.
