Chessmaster products are already available for handheld systems, and have set the standard for chess gaming on the PC. Developed by Starsphere Interactive for one or two players, Chessmaster II is the perfect chess companion for all age groups and skill levels. Beginners are patiently guided through this fun and challenging game with teaching modes that show legal moves, threatened pieces and hidden strategies of your opponent. Intermediate and expert players can elevate their level of play and match wits with 64 cunning human-like opponents. Players can also test their mettle against 30 Grandmaster personalities that read like a who's who of chess: Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky, Garry Kasparov and Josh Waitzkin, among others.

Chessmaster II features 3D high-resolution graphics with real-time board zoom and rotation. Players can choose from 24 different 2D and 3D chess sets, including the classic Staunton set, Egyptian, Greek, Fantasy and the Isle of Lewis set. Chessmaster II also provides in-game analysis enabling players to anticipate the consequences of their moves, one move at a time. To further sharpen their skills, players can set up any board position and have Chessmaster show the sequence of moves that will solve for mate.
