The creator of Dynasty Warriors leaves China and heads to 15th Century Feudal Japan with the help of a formidable new ally: Electronic Arts.

From Koei, creators of the acclaimed Dynasty Warriors saga, and EA comes Samurai Warriors, a strategic action title set during the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Period) of 15th Century Feudal Japan.

As brave Sanada Yukimura or any one of his band of legendary samurai and ninja, you must battle against fearsome leaders on the hallowed battlefields of Okehazama and Kawanakajima, and inside the besieged walls of Osaka Castle. By facing off against hundreds of gun-wielding troops, ninja, and mighty generals you'll forge a new destiny for the proud nation of Japan.

The development of the action in Samurai Warriors is determined by your character's (and hence your) actions; the story will branch off in different directions based on how you choose to approach various scenarios that crop up throughout campaigns. These scenarios are triggered by the Active Mission System (AMS), which randomly throws up any one of 500 mission variations - your success or failure can have direct affect on the scenarios that crop up in later stages.

Depending on your choice of character, you'll be able to slaughter troops with katana blades, deadly shuriken, kunai (daggers), kuzarigama (sickle and chain) and other such lethal weapons. Power up sufficiently during a battle, and you'll have a chance to wipe out dozens of troops at once with devastating Musou attacks. It's also possible to level up weaponry and equip them with special elemental power in order to inflict further damage to your foes.

On occasion you'll also leave the field and enter into castle battles - circular blades, false staircases, floor pitfalls, and other booby traps are strewn around in an attempt to catch you unawares. Like the AMS, the floor plans for each castle level are randomly generated each time, so you'll always be kept on your toes.

  • Over 90 stages with multiple endings
  • Go head-to-head with a second player, or co-operate in Story and Free mode
  • New Officer mode - train an original creation in combat
  • Active Mission System - attempt to complete over 500 missions, generated in real time during a campaign
