Der Spieler steuert Halle Berry als Catwoman spielend durch den Film und setzt dabei ihre katzenartigen Fähigkeiten, Sinne und Cleverness ein, um ihre Gegner zu besiegen.

Catwoman ist eine Figur aus den DC Comics. Der Film und das Spiel erzählen die Geschichte von Patience Phillips, die getötet wird, nachdem sie das dunkle Geheimnis ihres Arbeitgebers aufdeckt. Sie wird von einer seltenen ägyptischen Katze wieder zum Leben erweckt und so zu Catwoman. Als diese macht sie sich auf die Jagd nach der Wahrheit über sich selbst und ihren Mörder.

Patience Phillips discovered her employers' dark secret. A secret so dangerous, they had to kill her. A rare Egyptian cat brought her back to life. Now she sets out to avenge her death and expose the secret.

It's good to be a cat, especially one with an opposable thumb. Her new feline self enables Catwoman to crawl up walls, make astounding leaps and fall from great heights. As you might guess, she always lands on her feet.

Catwoman makes up for her lack of a tail by brandishing a long whip. She uses it to throw items at enemies and swing from building to building. The C Stick controls the direction of the whip.

When Catwoman engages her enemies, she isn't all about cracking some heads. She likes to toy with her prey and get creative. The game rewards you with points for playing with your mice. Make Catwoman pose for the bad guys and dish out some taunts. The bigger the tease, the larger the Pussycat bonus she'll garner at the end of the area. Toying with enemies that try to run away from you earns you big Scaredy Cat bonus points. If you show them that you mean business, unleash a whoopin' to build up the Wild Cat bonus.

The Catwoman costume, or what costume there is, isn't just skin-tight; it's bone-tight. Part of the reason why Catwoman has so much success against the bad guys might be because they spend too much time gawking at her. Then she cracks the whip on them. The environmental graphics, should you care, are top-notch and detailed.

Although the game succeeds graphically, it struggles when it comes to control. Catwoman can perform a large number of unique moves. Even though you can keep those under control, aiming is difficult. Sometimes a basic jump is tough to pull off because of a directional miscue.

Bottom Line

Catwoman is a good-looking game with some clever ideas. But as always when dealing with cats, control doesn't come easy.

Third-person action adventures have never looked so good, as Halle Berry's (barely) leather-wrapped persona pounces onto PS2. Stunning animation brings the cat-like movements of Catwoman to life, as she bounds on all fours around the detailed levels.

Use Catwoman's diamond-tipped claws to scale walls and cling to fences. Leap from wall to wall to ascend to the rooftops, leap majestically over deadly drops, and swing and somersault from lampposts in your pursuit of justice. Use Catwoman's trademark whip to latch onto hooks, flagpoles and other grab points to make sure nothing keeps you from you goal.

But, like a tiger, Catwoman is as deadly as she is beautiful, and her claws and whip aren't just there for effect. Use a sparkling array of kicks, scratches, grapples and whip attacks to send you foes scuttling for cover with their tails between their legs.
