MotoGP Studio Moves Up In The World!

18th June 2002, Brighton, W. Sussex, UK

With MotoGP: Ultimate Racing Technology already picking up rave reviews, Climax Brighton has pushed ahead with expansion plans as it looks to consolidate its position as Europe's premier race game studio.

Successful partnerships with publishing giants Acclaim, Activision, THQ and SCi have seen the company's fortunes continue to flourish, and resulted in the studio occupying a third floor of Brighton's Sheridan House. The welcome move marks a new period of expansion for Climax as it pursues its long-term goal of increasing its gaming portfolio through new relationships with IP holders, game developers, key publishers and console manufacturers.

Climax's continued growth is all the more remarkable at a time when many other development studios are downsizing. Karl Jeffery, CEO of Climax Group, puts the success down to hard work, professionalism and the sheer quality of its games: "We're delighted to be expanding our operation in Brighton as it proves that we're doing things right. By hand-picking the industry's most talented individuals and encouraging them in an environment that appreciates innovation and dedication, we're able to do things other studios cannot. We haven't missed a shipping date in over four years now and the quality of the games we've produced has been consistently high."

As it storms the Xbox charts, MotoGP: Ultimate Racing Technology is a perfect example of how the company's foundations are firmly laid in the development of excellent games. Thanks to its superior visuals, innovative features, advanced technology and breathtaking gameplay this stunning racer is just one in a long line of Climax-developed games to win the acclaim of gamers and critics alike. Utilising Climax's proprietary vehicle dynamics engine - DYNE, Moto GP game has become an instant hit with even respected gaming magazine, Edge, recognising its quality by listing it as one of its 'Most Wanted' and the Official Xbox Magazine rating it at 8.9 out of 10, second only to Halo.

Despite MotoGP's phenomenal success and the expansion of its Brighton office, Climax remains committed to small studios. Karl Jeffery explained why this is seen as crucial to the company's ongoing success: "Despite the expansion of Brighton our intention remains to keep our studios relatively small, so each can be managed effectively on a more personal level. Once a studio becomes too large it becomes impossible for it to be run effectively. To ensure we produce the very best games for our publishing partners its important that all our PS2, Xbox, PC and Gamecube teams work together."

In addition to Moto GP, Climax Brighton are working on several high profile race titles including Rally Fusion on PS2 for Activision and Gumball 3000, also on PS2, for SCi.
