Pokémon Snap

aka: Pocket Monsters Snap
Moby ID: 4681

Pokémon Island teems with camera-shy Pokémon. You'll need all your Poke-smarts to snap award-winning pictures!

Have you ever wanted to see Pikachu in its natural habitat? With the groundbreaking game Pokémon Snap, you will capture lots Pokémon found in the wild -- not with a Poke Ball but with a camera! Some shots are easy, like snapping Pikachu relaxing on the beach, but others are much more difficult, such as taking the picture of Pikachu riding on the back of a rare, flying Pokémon!

In Pokémon Snap, you're on assignment from Professor Oak, the world-famous Pokémon professor. He needs lots of photos taken on Pokémon Island, where you'll cross six fascinating environments in search of all the Pokémon you can find. Pidgey will soar over your shoulder on the Beach. Diglett will pop up in the Tunnel. A group of Charmander will run by in the Volcano. And that's only in the first three environments! Wait until you see all the lively Pokémon in the River, Cave and Valley.

When you return to Professor Oak's lab, he'll score your photos based on several merits: Did you capture the Pokémon in a great pose? Does its size fill the photo frame? Is it centered within the shot? And have you snapped more of the same kind of Pokémon in the background? Taking photos on Pokémon Island is a lot of fun, but it's a true test of your photography skills, too!

After you've taken lots of good shots, you can save them in your photo album and print them out as stickers at participating locations. You still gotta catch 'em all--this time with a good eye and a quick camera snap! And with one more trick up your sleeve, the Pokémon Snap Player's Guide, you'll discover all the amazing secrets of Pokémon Island.

Pokémon Snap is available now as a specially priced Player's Choice game with a MSRP of $39.95. The game has been rated "E" (Everyone) by the independent Entertainment Software Rating Board. Games rated "E" are suitable for persons age six or older.

As one of the most unique games in a renowned series, Pokémon Snap was the first truly 3-D Pokémon game and introduced the phenomenon to the Nintendo 64. Travel to Pokémon Island and meet Professor Oak to begin a safari to take the best possible photographs of 63 different Pokémon as they exist in the wild, undisturbed by humans. This is not as easy as it sounds—the island has many types of climates and environments to explore, along with secret activities and hidden passages to discover. Plus, some of the Pokémon can be a little shy and won’t pose for the camera unless you tease them with special items! After you’re done, submit one picture of each Pokémon to Professor Oak, and he’ll judge it based on size, pose, technique, and number of Pokémon captured. Better start practicing if you want to snap the perfect shot!

Pokémon Snap was made available to Wii™ console owners as a Virtual Console™ title in December 2007. With its rerelease, players can now share the pictures they've taken via WiiConnect 24™. Show off your best photos to friends around the world!

Pokémon are shy creatures by nature, and getting definitive proof of their existence is tough! Pokémon Snap shows just how hard it can be; Professor Oak has asked you to track down the elusive Pokémon and take photos of them in their natural habitat.

Traveling through a variety of environments, including caves, rivers, and jungles, you have to have a keen eye and a quick shutter finger to catch all the Pokémon in action. Professor Oak will reward you not simply for capturing Pokémon on film, but also for centering them entirely in frame or waiting for them to do something special for the camera.

Professor Oak knows how difficult your task will be, so he's thankfully handed over a few items to help you lure out certain reclusive Pokémon. Throw Apples into open areas to get Pokémon to step into view, or blow a few notes into the Poké Flute to wake dozing Pokémon from their slumber.
