Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition is a great way for new Pokémon Trainers to enter the Pokémon universe, and it gives experienced Trainers a new challenge in their quest to become the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer. The major innovation in Pokémon Yellow compared to Red and Blue is the starring role of Pikachu. You start the game with a Pikachu, which is the only one in the game. If you place Pikachu in your party, it will follow you around. Pikachu's mood will change depending on how you've been treating it.Other differences between Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Red or Blue are:Pokémon Yellow is compatible with the Game Boy Printer. For example, you can print out pictures from your Pokédex.Pokémon Yellow features all-new pictures of the Pokémon found in Red or Blue. Your Pikachu can evolve into Raichu, but must first be traded to Pokémon Red, Blue, Gold or Silver.You can enter a new building just below Fuchsia City and, if you have a Surfing Pikachu, play a side-scrolling minigame. Your goal is to perform as many radical stunts as possible, and you can print out your high score. Radical!Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Ekans, Arbok, Raichu, Meowth, Persian, Koffing, Weezing, Jynx, Electabuzz and Magmar are not found in Yellow. You must trade for them. Other Pokémon are found in different areas.On a Game Boy Color, the enhanced colours in Pokémon Yellow are more vibrant than the colours seen in Pokémon Red and Blue.Jesse and James, the bumbling Team Rocket duo, are found several times on your adventure.Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle can all be found in Yellow. To receive them, you must complete special tasks.Gym Trainers use different strategies and are more difficult to defeat. The Unknown Dungeon is different in this version, too.With two Pokémon Yellow Game Paks, two Game Boy systems and a Game Link cable, you and a friend can enter three new battle modes: Pika Cup, Poké Cup and Petite Cup.

Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition is now available for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family! The game remains true to the original, complete with monochromatic pixel art and 4-bit background music, so you can feel as though you’re experiencing the game just as it was back then!

This title is compatible with wireless communication for the first time ever. In the days of the Game Boy, players had to use a Link Cable to connect with friends, but this game uses the Nintendo 3DS system’s wireless capabilities to allow you to trade and battle Pokémon in just the same way. Pokémon Bank is also now compatible with Pokémon Yellow, allowing you to transfer the Pokémon you’ve caught to the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games!

Using Pokémon Bank, you'll be able to transfer Pokémon you've caught in the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow into your copy of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y can also be brought into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the same way.
