ELECTRONIC ARTS AND CRAVE ENTERTAINMENT SHIPS GLOBAL OPERATIONS FOR THE PC
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 27, 2002â Players get a dose of authentic war-like settings in Global Operationsâ as the multiplayer-focused team-based tactical first person perspective game features 13 real world locations and âhot spotsâ such as Chechnya, Sri Lanka, North Africa and the South China Seas. The game also features 26 elite fighting forces. In partnership with Crave Entertainment and Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) are jointly publishing Global Operations for the PC worldwide.
Global Operations boasts a massive multiplayer component that supports up to 24 players. The emphasis is on co-operative play as teams try to accomplish a wide variety of mission types. Players experience a unique troop reinforcement scheme that reinserts players into the game via a helicopter, APC or truck. The game also supports single player game with AI bots.
Global Operations offers more than 30 real weapons including handguns, machine guns, shotguns, rifles, and anti-tank weaponry. Weapon ballistics are accurately modeled affecting so that players can shoot through walls and ceilings depending on distance and caliber of weapon. Global Operations also features more than 12 military hardware tools such as grenades, night vision goggles, thermal vision and various explosive devices. The game includes a specialty system in which players can choose from six customizable specialties including sniper, recon, medic and heavy gunner, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, as well as an intelligence officer that can give help to the team from a safe distance.
