NINTENDO SHIFTS EXCITEMENT INTO HIGH GEAR Excitebike® 64 Brings Intense Four-Player Motocross Action To N64®

REDMOND, Wash., May 1, 2000 - Motorcross catches serious air with Excitebike 64, making players' adrenaline pump from high-flying jumps, mid-air stunts and turbo-boosting wheelies. The updated version from the famous Nintendo Entertainment System® comes to Nintendo® 64 with brand new modes, gorgeous graphics and exceptional gameplay mechanics while retaining the true arcade feel of the original. Developed by Left Field Productions, Excitebike 64 is available May 1, 2000 for a suggested retail price of $59.95.

"True motocross action arrives on N64 with enough modes and game play features to keep players going full throttle," says Peter Main, executive vice president, sales and marketing. "The game's intense four-player mode and stunning graphics are guaranteed to make Excitebike 64 the best motocross game available on any system."

Excitebike 64 boasts more than 20 tracks to challenge players' motocross skills including indoor stadiums and massive outdoor environments, with plenty of jumps, bumps and stunts for up to four players. The accurately-modeled physics engine maintains the realism of motocross action and tight bike control. Excitebike 64's realistic rider and detailed crash animations give players a true sense of being part of the action.

The game also sports an in-depth track editor allowing players to design their own race and stunt courses. Players can let their imaginations run wild designing extreme tracks with hairpin turns, massive jumps and variable terrain. The high-powered graphics in Excitebike 64 provide ultra-realistic detail to all the tracks and action. Bikes kick up dirt and mud as they race through a number of different environments including mountain trails, jungle courses and a never-ending desert. Excitebike 64 looks even more stunning when played with the N64 Expansion PakTM, which gives an added turbo boost to already impressive visuals.

Packed with plenty of riding options and game play modes, Excitebike 64 has almost unlimited replay value. In addition to standard racing and stunt modes, players can unlock a challenging mountain climbing feature, a bike-based soccer match and other courses. There is even a version of the original 8-bit Excitebike and a number of other secret features hidden within the game. Tighten your helmet, twist the throttle, and get ready to grab stratospheric air!

Faced with a crowded field of contenders, Excitebike 64 soars over the competition to firmly establish itself as the best motorcycle racing game for Nintendo 64. It may be the last
of the two-wheeled racers to hit store shelves, but good things come to those who wait, remember?

Excitebike 64 may not feature the real-world riders and tracks found in other Supercross titles (Supercross 2K, Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2K), but its authentic play control and gorgeous
graphics make it the most realistic of the bunch.

The code pros at Left Field have accomplished an amazing feat with Excitebike 64: they successfully recreated the realism of Supercross and Motocross racing, without making the
game too difficult to play. Extremely wide tracks, a responsive drift feature and spot-on control while you're in the air make this game a pleasure to ride.

In the original Excitebike (1985), the main challenge was to line your tires up with various jumps and bumps to maintain a smooth ride. Now, 15 years later, the premise remains the same. To succeed in Excitebike 64, your bike has to hit jumps in the proper position, then land smoothly on jump transitions. If your timing isn't perfect, you'll lose major speed. Whether you're racing in the 80, 125or 250cc classes, all bikes have a turbo feature which plays a crucial role in the
gameplay.

Before every jump, riders have to use a burst of turbo to ensure that their bikes clear the gap and land smoothly on the other side. If you get too turbo-happy, though, your bike will overheat.
Mastering the use of turbo is the secret to landing a first-place finish.

Excitebike 64 is teeming with different ways to play, but at the heart of the game is a joint-jarring Season Mode. Your career begins at the Novice level, where you'll compete in three
rounds of five races each before progressing to Amateur and Pro competitions. The one-player Season Mode features 20 high-flyin' tracks, including realistic indoor courses and outrageously extreme outdoor circuits.

In addition to Season Mode, Excitebike 64 delivers awesome replay value with a wide variety of ways to play:

Soccer - Finish 1st overall in the Silver Round of the Novice Season to unlock Soccer Mode. Two or four players can compete simultaneously, using their bikes to kick around a massive soccer ball.

NES Excitebike - Finish the Tutorial Mode to unlock the great granddaddy of motorcycle racing games. This NES classic stands up remarkably well to the test of time.

Hill Climb - Finish first overall in the Gold Round of the Amateur Season to unlock Hill Climb Mode. In this technically demanding test of skill, riders power their way up near-verticle slopes in a fight against gravity.

Excite 3D - Finish first in the Challenge Round of Pro Season to unlock this updated version of the NES original. Speed boosts and big jumps make this bonus feature a blast.

Desert - Desert races are exhausting marathons without the luxury of manicured tracks. The first rider to locate ten bonfire checkpoints is the winner.

Custom Tracks -Even if you master all 20 of Excitebike 64's pre-packaged tracks, a user-friendly track editor ensures that you'll never run out of new challenges

With incredible play control and big-time replay value, Excitebike 64 is destined to
become one of the greatest racing games on Nintendo 64. Excitebike 64 is in stores now.
