GO: WHIPLASH IS HERE!!!**

Irvine, Calif.(Febuary 21, 1995)-- Interplay Productions announced today the release of Whiplash for the IBM PC and 100% compatibles. Whiplash, is a multi-player 3D racing game that literally puts a twist on the question, ‘does the player have what it takes to win the checkered flag?’ An adrenaline-pumping, gravity-defying and stunt-filled experience, Whiplash will take players on the race of their life. Crossing the finish line isn’t anything like it used to be.

Whiplash is the world’s only 16-player racing game that combines real-time, full-contact racing with one-of-a-kind death defying stunts. Whiplash contains over 16 tracks with names like Tsunami Twister, Devil’s Hairpin and Death Drop which are filled with unique stunts- loops, blind-jumps, hump-back bridges and corkscrews- that will ensure the player is pushed to the limit. Whiplash allows players to choose from five difficulty levels and three racing modes from Tournament to Survival, battle up to 15 other players in a no-holds-barred race to the death, or compete against some of the most intelligent computer AI found in any arcade-style racing game.

"Whiplash is jam-packed with action and stunts that have never been seen in a racing arcade game before. Add to it the 16-player network option and you have the ultimate racing experience," stated Rob Pardo, Interplay’s producer of the title.

Developed by and licensed from UK based publisher Gremlin Interactive, Whiplash is definitely not just another PC racing game. After the player pledges their allegiance to the car manufacturer of their choice, the player will test their skills in one of eight prototype Supercars on a racing circuit that will push the player and their car to the limit. Each car handles differently, with its own strengths and weaknesses, and the player will soon work out which car best suits their own driving style.

Additional features include instant replay, highlight race reels and a two-player split screen options. As others attempt to block and push the player off the road, they must remember one thing: winning is everything!

Whiplash was produced by Interplay’s Rob Pardo in conjunction with the producers at Gremlin Interactive. Rob Pardo’s other production credits at Interplay include Wolfenstein 3d for 3DO and 3DO Buffet. Mr. Pardo began his career in the interactive multimedia business at Interplay as quality assurance tester and has worked his way up through the development ranks.

Available on CD-ROM, Whiplash will run on any 486DX2 66Mhz or faster with DOS 5.0 or later and at least 8Mb RAM. A double-speed CD-ROM drive, hard-drive installation, VGA graphic card and a Sound Blaster compliant sound card are required.
