EA SPORTS SHIPS TRIPLE PLAY 2002 FOR THE PLAYSTATION 2 AND XBOX

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 12, 2002–Step into the batter’s box and swing for the fences! EA (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced the release of Triple Play’ 2002 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Triple Play 2002 for the Xbox’ video game system from Microsoft ships the week of March 18th.

In Triple Play 2002, the action on the field comes to life with real player models and photo-realistic 3D head scans of Major League Baseball® players including Luis Gonzalez, Ichiro Suzuki, Mike Piazza, Randy Johnson, Bernie Williams and Greg Maddux. The game also features unique camera angles and dramatic out-of-play sequences, giving players a chance to experience the drama and emotion of big game moments such as a game-winning hit or a key strikeout.

Players can choose from four modes of play in Triple Play 2002: Single Game, Season, Playoffs and Home Run Derby’. In Home Run Derby, players can choose from among the heaviest hitters in the game to launch as many long balls as possible. Players can compete in an eight-player elimination tournament or play one-on-one competition.

Also new to Triple Play 2002 are the voices behind the game. Award winning broadcaster Bob Costas provides play-by-play while ESPN Baseball Tonight analyst Harold Reynolds handles the color commentary.

Triple Play 2002, featuring World Series® Champion Luis Gonzalez on the cover, is rated “E” (Everyone) by the ESRB. The game will carry a suggested retail price of $49.95.
