If you spot a sneaky shortcut, then use it - if your opponent's hugging the cliff edge then give him a nudge and a salute as you cruise into the lead and he cruises into a deep gorge.

Out on these panoramic race circuits, you'll get to drive the weirdest range of vehicles. Speed merchants can try the Bug for size, style victims can hop in the Redneck and those with a taste for the bizarre can drive the bright yellow school bus through the opposition.

Once you've beaten the computer controlled cars, grab a mate and test the multiplayer mode. You won't need to steeenking modem to play head to head in this game, though, because Ignition features a unique split-screen mode for up close and personal racing.

INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to Ignition, the foremost action racing game on the PC. Shortly you'll get to race a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from buses to sports cars around race tracks in places as diverse as Snake Island and Moosejaw Falls.

The game can be played in single player mode, against a number of computer controlled opponents, in a split screen mode against a friend or over a network against up to six friends. So grab a pal and show them just how underhanded you can be.

Ignition has been carefully designed to get the most out of your hardware. It features a smooth overhead viewpoint enabling you to see the action and forthcoming hazards at the same time. However it's only over time that you'll learn how to take each of the corners, where the shortcuts are and where it's best to nudge your opponent into a cliff wall. The moral of this story is: If you keep getting iced, then you're not playing dirty enough.

FEATURES: * Ignition includes seven extremely well designed tracks. Jump out from waterwalls, over canyons or over roads and huge steeps. Select your route when the track splits up. Watch out for falling rocks, tornados and avalanches. Race along the railway or take a shortcut over the airport runway. * Select your car from eleven exotic vehicles like a police car, school bus or monster truck. * Play single, two player splitscreen or multiplayer network. * Four different race modes: championship, single race, training and pursue mode. * Advanced computer-controlled cars that also make mistakes like spinning and crashing. * Transparent skidmarks, smoke, sparks and fire add a new level of realism to the game. * Transparent textures create great water effects never yet seen in a racing game on the PC. * Weather effects like rain, fog and snow. * Realtime anti-aliasing takes the visuals to arcade-machine heights in even the lower resolutions. * Optional mip mapping. * Keyboard, joystick or steering-wheel control. * An Ignition 3dfx patch will be released later this autumn.
