You can also default to the official US or UK rules and replace dollars with euros.There's no option for screen text to replace the announcer, but after your first game you won't need his guidance. Presentation is straightforward, although trades are initially confusing.Perhaps recognizing that a property like Monopoly doesn’t really lend itself to a lot of eye candy, developer Runecraft took an unflashy approach to designing the graphics. The Nintendo GameCube's great capacity for cool lighting effects isn't exploited, particularly on the Sci-Fi board. You can turn off the stiff animations of the pawns and the background figures.You can select from a handful of music tracks in various genres, including funk, rock and electronica. A muddy mix makes it difficult to make out the sound effects, which must have been tough to figure out in the first place. Just what sound does an ancient vase make when it hops?Monopoly Party saves records, but you can’t save a game in progress.Bottom LineThe bottom line -- that's what Monopoly is all about, isn't it? Monopoly Party gives you an accurate sim of the boardgame with just about all the rules options you can think of. The extra boards are fun, even if they don't add anything in terms of gameplay. Configurable AI makes this disc particularly good for brushing up on your Monopoly skills.
