“ The collection that Sega has put together here is certainly the best compilation to grace GameCube yet. It's chock full of some of the best Sonic games as well as a number of odd bonus Sonic-related titles you can unlock. It's no secret that the lighting quick action offered up in Sonic the Hedgehog is still irresistible to this day. In fact some even prefer the originals to Sega's recent 3D attempts. So, Sega has included all three of the originals. And, in addition to those, we have Sonic & Knuckles, which is as good as its brethren. They're all perfectly emulated, and the two-player mode in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has even been cleaned up to run at a more full resolution. “ - IGN.com

You're in hedgehog heaven.

The Sonic Mega Collection finally gives Nintendo fans the chance to experience Sega's classic mascot in some of his greatest adventures ever! This anthology of 2D gaming goodness features Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, & 3; Sonic & Knuckles; Sonic 3D Blast; Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic Spinball.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic's first adventure was released on the Sega Genesis back in 1991. Sega's fledgling hero was designed as a high-speed hipster to challenge Mario's throne as video-game king. In Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic must save his animal friends from the evil Dr. Robotnik in level after level of side- and vertically-scrolling platform action.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 introduced Sonic's first sidekick, Tails the fox (aka Miles Prower). Dr. Robotnik is up to his old animal-napping tricks again, and it's up to Sonic and Tails to stop him. New to the series is Sonic's patented spin-dash technique and two-player competitive modes.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Keeping with the "adding a new character with each sequel" trend, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introduced Knuckles the Echidna. Only this time, he's not your friend. Hired by Dr. Robotnik to steal the Chaos Emeralds, Knuckles shows up from time to time to foil Sonic and Tails' progress. Rescue your friends and restore the Chaos Emeralds once and for all!

Sonic & Knuckles

Pioneering the "lock-on" technology, Sonic & Knuckles was the first (and only) cartridge that could physically connect with another cartridge to unlock new content. This new feature allowed you to play as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3. Even by itself, Sonic & Knuckles is a worthy action/platform game and one of the best games in the series.

Sonic 3D Blast

Sonic makes his return and now he's in 3D! Join Sonic in this innovative isometric adventure as he rescues his Flicky friends from the evil Dr. Robotnik. Developed by a new team, Sonic 3D Blast offers a unique perspective on the Sonic universe.

Sonic Spinball

More of a wacky offshoot title, Sonic Spinball pits the heroic hedgehog in Dr. Robotnik's dreaded Pinball Fortress! Based on the pinball zone levels from previous titles, Sonic must survive stage after stage of pinball madness.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

The first Sonic game not to include Sonic in the title, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is actually based on the popular Japanese puzzle game Puyo Puyo. Players must guide falling colored beans down a rectangular playing field and attempt to match up four beans of the same color. Place your beans correctly, and you'll pull off some insane combo points.

Hidden Gems

As if including seven of the greatest Sonic games of all time wasn't enough, Sega has also sneaked in a couple of hidden classics for diligent players to unlock. One of the included bonus games is the quirky platform title, Ristar. Debuting on the Sega Genesis, Ristar features an adorable star-shaped hero with stretchy arms that he can use to grab and head-butt enemies at will.

If you think that sounds strange, then check out the other hidden game, Flicky. Starring a diminutive blue hummingbird, Flicky has you rescuing your "chirp" buddies from a band of evil kittens. You must find each of the chirps located throughout the level and safely return them to an escape door without getting pounced on.

Looks as Good as You Remember

The graphics and sound are 100% accurate replicas of the originals and still look great even over a decade after they were introduced. As with the cartridge originals, players are still able to connect any of the first three Sonic games to Sonic & Knuckles to unlock new areas and gameplay features.

Collectors will be happy with the dozens of unlockable features like vintage Sonic CD videos, high resolution artwork comic book covers and more.

Blast From the Past

Both old school gamers and those new to the "Hog" will enjoy the classic gameplay that continues to satisfy even today. Take a spin down memory lane and pick up the Sonic Mega Collection today!
