Zehn Punkte gebe ich diesem wirklich süchtigmachenden kleinen Software-Juwel. Erschienen ist es für die Spielhalle, PC-Engine, Mega Drive sowie alle damals gängigen Homecomputer wie Amiga, Atari ST und C-64. Die Versionen sind technisch allesamt sehr nahe am Original, spielerisch ebenso. Nur die C-64-Version hinkt etwas nach aufgrund der technischen Beschaffenheit der Maschine. Es ist alles deutlich farbärmer und ruckelt manchmal, gerade wenn das Wasser kommt. Zudem sind hier ein paar kleine spielerische Unterschiede zu bemerken. Dennoch gilt hier die selbe Wertung - genial ist es auch auf der Brotkiste.

[Cute to Kill round-up] Filled with amusing baddies, power-ups and heaps of fruit, RI also features one of the most original weapons ever seen in a computer game.Firing rainbows to dispose of foes and platforms is indescribably addictive. Two-player option aside, this is a near-perfect conversion in every conceivable respect.

Better than seeing a Cadbury's lorry overturn outside your house - and so cute that it'll make you feel as if you scoffed the lot! Cracking stuff indeed and well worth the wait for it to come out at a price even I'm prepared to pay!

You don't even need a 16- bit machine and lots of memory to play a highly accurate coin-op conversion! Graphics are on the blocky side, but are as close as you're gonna get considering the C64's resolution capabilities, and bright use of colour helps disguise any slight ugliness. A faithful rendition of the coin-op's music and lively little effects form a soundtrack that rounds off the game nicely.

Questo Rainbow Islands è una conversione spettacolare a dir poco. Il fatto che la trasposizione sia riuscitissima non è di per se un fattore di alta giocabilità, bisogna infatti vedere quanto è valido il titolo originale. Beh, capolavoro vi basta? E di capolavoro si può parlare anche qui! Stupendo platform a scorrimento verticale come pochi se ne sono visti nell'intera storia dei videogiochi, dagli inizi a oggi (04/08/2009). Avete un C64 in salotto, in camera o in cantina? se la risposta è si, vi consiglio di prendere in considerazione l'acquisto di questo titolo

So kann ich diesen beiden Konvertierungen ruhigen Gewissens den Hit-Stern vergeben. Sie haben nichts von der Qualität und Spannung verloren RAINBOW ISLANDS ist auf allen Rechnern eine wahre Freude!

Mit den brillanten Amiga- und ST-Versionen kann die C 64-Umsetzung leider nicht mithalten. Im Vergleich zu anderen Neuerscheinungen für diesen Computer macht "Rainbow Islands" allerdings eine gute Figur.

Rainbow Islands ist ein nach einer alten Spielidee aufgezogenes Hüpf- und Rennspiel mit den Bubble-Brothers. Den Sound könnte man im ersten Moment als Ohrwurm bezeichnen, ab dem 84. Spiel nervt er jedoch gewaltig. Die Grafik ist klobig und ruckelig.
