Galacta: The Battle for Saturn
Description
Gamplay is similar to Galaxian and Galaga, Galacta gives you a top-down space shooter just like the arcade games.
Move back and forth along the bottom of the screen as you avoid the attacks from the enemy ships and launch your own attacks at them. You can be destroyed by any shot from an enemy or by hitting an enemy ship as it swoops in at you.
The enemies will come down in various pre-set patterns and do not really try to hit you... but staying out of their way can still be a challenge. Watch out as the ships fly down at you and as they return from the bottom of the screen flying up again.
Get various power-ups such as shields to help you survive their attacks. If you make it through a wave of enemies without dying, you get a bonus to your score.

The Good
A ridiculously hard shooter, but more than just a Galaga clone. Hostile aliens have destroyed Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, as well as the defense force that was sent to engage them. This game is so difficult that you get seven ships to fight them with. Galacta adds power-ups like shields and lasers, occasionally an asteroid will enter the playing field, and the enemies don't merely enter the screen in formation, they fly in formation for the entire level. That means that enemies are never standing still, and the screen frequently fills with enemy fire. The first episode was shareware and there were supposed to be two additional episodes for registered users, but they were never created.
