Description
Cel shaded, 3-d shooter where you take the role of a Veritech pilot to fight the Zentraedi. A variety of missions await you, ranging from deep space to crowded cities. Everything looks like it is out of the show and voice-overs from some of the original cast help immerse you in the game.

Trivia
Despite the fact that it's a japanese animé, Robotech never existed in japan per se. The full story is too long and complicated to recount here, but basically the story is that Carl Macek, the owner of an art gallery that used to deal with animation cels, got drafted by the newly-founded animation department of an US-based distribution company called Harmony Gold. The company was looking to distribute an animé series with the hopes of selling it for TV, for those purposes, Macek bought the rights for one of the most groundbreaking mecha series ever, Macross. Unfortunately, the series was 36 episodes long, and US tv stations asked for a minimum of 65 so they could get 13 weeks worth of programming. Macek thus decided to acquire 2 similar sci-fi series (Genesis Climber Mospeada [25 eps.] and Super Dimensional Cavarly Southern Cross [23 eps.]) and as the legend goes sat one day to watch them all togheter (in japanese, even if he didn't know a word of the language) and came up with a common story to merge all 3 series into one. For that purpouse he re-wrote and re-edited all 3 series into one and even made new episodes by re-using Macross animation (ie. Dana's story) to make a grand total of 85 episodes.
Hence was Robotech born! Quite obviously the butcherizing of all 3 series is astronomical, in addition to the "de rigour" censorship which removed all nudity, violent content, and "mature" subjects. The authors of Macross have stated that they never have nor ever will see their version of Macross as "Robotech", and in fact Robotech exists only outside Japan (for obvious legal reasons).
If you are even remotely interested in the "real" Robotech, you should check out the original Macross series, a strikingly adult and interesting sci-fi epic that's is remarkably different from it's US dumbed-down version.
Oh, and the "Robotech" title comes from the Revell model kit company. Harmony Gold made an initial partnership with them since they distributed lots of Macross and other japanese model kits under a generic name. Hence when the time to re-name the series came they just used the one Revell was using. What was that name? Robo-tech.
