Grey Matter
Description
Grey Matter is a top-down shooter set on a single screen with organic enemies. The black dot the player controls cannot actually shoot, its body is the bullet itself and it needs to touch enemies to take them out.
Levels are divided over different themes such as stress, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, psychosis and more. With each wave of enemies, new types are introduced along with a change in the game colours. Some enemies can only be taken out from a certain direction, or by touching specific parts. By killing three identical enemies in a row, a trinity attack (triangle) is created that destroys everything in the enclosed area. Holding the Shift key improves the dot's speed.
Before each level, or when pausing the game, points can be exchanged for a specific bonus such as boost, shield, option or an extra life. Certain power-ups are much needed during gameplay, as some enemies can teleport so fast boost is required to take them out. The end of the game features a boss level, after which additional modes can be unlocked: expert, endless and boss; each with their own high-score screen. For faster gameplay, this browser title is also available as a download.
