Besides that, the controls are responsive, and the framerate is smooth, although there is definitely some slowdown at times. I really like this game. It's addictive, fast action, and genuinely fun. You even have the option to play as a female Zool, which changes the dynamics of the game. This is one of the best Jaguar titles.

The zippy, Sonic-like alien returns with a female pal for a terrific second adventure. Fast fun and colorful graphics make this game the best hop-n-bopper on the Jaguar.

I didn't like Zool very much when I first played it on the Amiga. The character was likable but the overly cute bg's had me clamoring for the off button. Zool 2 on the Jag is much improved. Visually, Z2 looks rich and the audio is superb for a cart. If only the frustration factor was lower this would be an incredible title.

Granted, it's a little too colorful and cute to appeal to everyone and it can't escape a certain frustration factor at times, but it's well crafted and achieves it's own modest goals. Not bad at all.

Game Zero
This game is an Amiga port... or atleast if it isn't, it could be... and while I both own and love Amiga games, I'm getting tired of this particular "Amiga"-style of platform title, in fact, James Pond 2 was about the last title I could stand of this type. The graphics are very brite and crisp, and play control is right on the money. Sound is somewhat annoying, especially after you've played for several hours. If you're dying to get you hands on a platform game for the Jag, sit on them and wait for Rayman.

Zool 2 is a fine platform jumper if that's your thing, and would have made a decent Genesis cart a few years ago - but as a Jag game, it only makes you sit there, scratch your head and ask, "Why?"

Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
This is a plenty good version of the pint-sized ninja character --- enhanced by the addition of the playable female character. As usual, the levels are huge, but at times, are visual overkill. Not a bad game, though.

Despite the fact that Zool 2 can be fun to play for a while, I couldn't help but wonder why something more original wasn't released as one of the Jaguar's first platform games.
