Dog Days: an underrated gem

The Good
Dog Days is a straight-forward third person shooter. At its gameplay, it does nothing new, it is your standard modern shooter control scheme. It is very smooth to play and the cover system is incredible.

Graphically, Dog Days is a masterpiece. The graphics are incredible and they run very smooth, compared to many games these days. The camera effects and the environment were incredibly made.

There is no music during the gameplay, that means you can listen to your favourite musics while killing the whole Shanghai, and trust me, it'll be awesome!

The story is very simple and it lands quite where Dead Men stopped. Lynch is now living in Shanghai and he has now a girlfriend, Xiu. Lynch is involved in a gang, led by Glazer. Kane flies to Shanghai to see his old fried, but then later Lynch is betrayed by Glazer. Beyond this, is just running and shooting.

Dog Days features a co-op mode, an arcade mode and multi-player modes. The last one I didn't tried yet, but the others are very excellent. Co-op is like any other shooter and is very fun to play, especially if your friend plays shooters a lot. The arcade mode is incredibly fun and simple: you're at a group of robbers (which your character is chosen randomly) and you must steal money from various locations in Shanghai and escape the heist at the helicopter.

The Bad
Censorship. It is very annoying, because the characters shout at almost every cutscene, and they do say the "f" words, but when you shot someone at the head, the game pixelates it. I don't know if the developers were lazy to design the dead faces or else, but the fact that it is censoring it is ridiculous.

The Bottom Line
Dog Days is your typical shooter. Nothing is new, with exception of the graphics. If you enjoyed Dead Men, you will find yourself in love with this one.

The critics really didn't liked it a lot. It may lack with censorship and a quite short campaign, but it is mindless fun and I think every gamer will enjoy.
