Description official descriptions

Quest for Infamy is the first original game by Infamous Quests. The developers previously created the King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human and Space Quest II: Roger Wilco in Vohaul's Revenge fan remakes under the Infamous Adventures group name. It was funded by a successful crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter. Quest for Infamy is a hybrid point-and-click adventure game and RPG. In the game, a man is trying to start his life over after running away from a shady past.

A modern classic in a retro presentation

The Good
Heavily inspired by and modeled after Sierra's Quest for Glory series, Quest for Infamy is the rare "fan" game which recreates practically everything that's great about the original games, polishes some of the weaknesses, and against all odds somehow manages to produce an overall better gaming experience. What an awesome surprise.

Full of irreverent humor and innuendos (that may admittedly not be for everyone), QfI features the familiar brigand-sorcerer-rogue class selection and RPG elements from the classic QfG games. It then layers on great writing, a beautiful score, lovely early 90s-style pixel art & backgrounds, and engaging game design with multiple puzzle solutions. And instead of the nameless hero with no personality from QfG, here both the main protagonist Roehm and the narrator are sarcastic scamps, full of cutting insults and quips in even the most unlikely situations.

The result is an almost never-boring experience filled with things to do and laughs to be had even on "filler" screens with just trees and rocks. Sure, the voice acting from some of the minor characters is a bit wooden, but the leads are almost universally great.

Quest for Infamy's also got a good deal of replayability, as not only could you try a different class' path, but there are a host of different choices and achievements to pursue even within the same class.

The Bad
There is a bit of grinding in this one – never my favorite – though it's still less than QfG, and there are fortunately no stamina nor mana limitations to worry about.

Puzzles are a bit on the easier side, ranging from the straightforward to the slightly clever, but fortunately there's no moon logic to be found here.

The Bottom Line
All in all, to put it simply, Quest for Infamy is a modern classic in a retro presentation. Highly recommended, and it even got ported to contemporary consoles earlier in 2022.
