Smuggler's Run's go-anywhere experience frees you up to get a bit creative with your driving, and the high speeds combined with rugged off-road courses make for a wild ride. Dodging Johnny Law was never this much fun!

In closing, Smuggler’s Run is a great game. While it lacks the variety that might keep a lone player going to that fateful hour when birds start singing, the multiplayer experience is exciting and you never really get sick of moving through the terrain.

Un jeu de course atypique et très réussi qui procure un plaisir instantané, du à la fois à la liberté d'action, aux modes de jeu très bien pensés et à la très bonne réalisation.

Smuggler´s Run hätte sich zum ernsthaften Konkurrenten des Klassikers Driver entwickeln können. Doch herausgekommen ist „nur“ ein simples Checkpoint-Rennen, das seinen Reiz hauptsächlich aus der guten Grafik mit extremen Sichtweiten und der eingängigen Steuerung bezieht. Doch trotz allem ist der Fun-Faktor recht hoch, obwohl der Schwierigkeitsgrad eher fortgeschrittenere Spieler ansprechen dürfte. Alles in allem ist Smuggler´s Run ein durchweg unterhaltsames Game, das allerdings keinen Pflichtkauf darstellt, und das die PS2-Zweifler sicherlich auch nicht bekehren wird. Racing-Fans werden aber nicht enttäuscht werden.

In the end Smuggler's Run is an incredibly good game, just slightly hampered by its somewhat shabby replay value. While this isn't a weekend or a week lasting game by any means, Smuggler's Run can take about a week and half or two to complete, unlike Midnight Club which can take a good month to finish. Smuggler's Run is a visually pretty game, with huge environments that feature nearly no pop-up creating the best view distance available in a game to date, the gameplay will really get you addicted and the AI can also be quite the challenge, and let's not forget the sweet soundtrack. Overall I believe Smuggler's Run is one of those next-generation game that we were all looking for, PS2 owners should check out Smuggler's Run, or if you are having doubts, at least rent it. I personally found it an enjoyable game.

Smuggler's Run is an excellent game with a very cool premise and solid gameplay to back it up. Though the game gets a little dry and repetitive after a while, the limitless opportunities found in the multiplayer modes and the insane vehicular stunts that make up a good portion of the game's action make it a worthy addition to any driving fan's game library.

Smuggler's Run is a very good game. It has that easy to pick-up-and-play sensibility, and it will keep you playing for a relatively long time in the two-player mode with a friend or two. The physics are great, and the level design pushes you to take damage and take risks to reach your goals. It's not a stunning looking game, and it's not a very long game, but it is original and fun, and that's a great combination for any game on any system.

There may not be a lot of customization and online play is absent (understandably as a first-gen PS2 game), but this franchise certainly has a bright future if the developers take care of it. Smuggler's Run is an impressive piece of technology and can be enjoyed for a few minutes or a few hours at a time, depending on what you want and how you play. Multiplayer modes are enjoyable if not incredibly robust, and can be enjoyed with nothing but A.I. competition as well. Smuggler's Run is a solid addition to any action or racing fanatic's collection.

Mit etwas eigenem Fahrstil durch die Landschaft heitzen, dabei keinerlei Regeln beachten, sich als Schmuggler einsetzen lassen und ein Päckchen von A nach B liefern... hier ist alles möglich. Rasen Sie mit heißen Vehickeln umher, kämpfen Sie gegen andere Schmuggler, fahren Sie deren Autos zu Schrott und fliehen Sie vor der Polizei. Mit mit viel PS und rasanten Sprüngen gelangt man über Stock und Stein. Dabei ist zu beachten, daß der eigene Wagen auch ein Schadensmodell hat und total demoliert werden kann. Jede Mission wird von einem sehr passenden Komentar untermalt und die Gesetzeshüter hinter ihnen, vordern Sie auf anzuhalten. Die Grafik ist zwar keine Meisterleistung, aber relativ flüssig. Dafür ist aber der Spielmodi sehr spaßig und die Allradkisten lassen sich gut steuern.

Smuggler's Run is at once an impressive, invigorating romp and a seemingly unfinished, unpolished rush job. At its core, this is a surprisingly limited game. However, it's still loads of fun if you look past its shortcomings. A rental for sure, but you might want to save your dough for something more addicting. And that's the straight dope.

S'il ne brille pas par son originalité, Smuggler's Run est un jeu qui pourra susciter quelques pointes de plaisir. La réalisation graphique exploite honnêtement les capacités de la PlayStation 2 sans pour autant étonner. Seul gros point noir : sa répétitivité. A noter que le jeu est en étroite relation avec Midnight Club : Street Racing, (les voitures cachées de ce dernier pouvant être utilisées dans Smuggler). Une initiative originale et appréciable, encore faut-il posséder les deux jeux...
