Description official descriptions

SFPD Homicide / Case File: The Body in the Bay is a point-and-click adventure game based mostly on FMV and photo graphics, with the player taking up the role of a San Francisco Police Department detective tasked with clearing up a series of murders. The character is San Francisco's newest homicide detective and teams up with a real investigator who acts as a partner and a guide. The case starts with a 50-something white male found floating in the bay near Pier 91, bound and gagged. The player's tasks encompass examining crime scenes and securing evidence as well as interrogating witnesses and suspects to uncover the identity of the serial killer. Using evidence, clues and procedures from the actual case, the detective explores the victim's life, vices and secret passions. Along the way, more than 40 characters from his life are met as the case takes the detective from the city's posh nightclubs to its deserted piers.

Challenging Case to solve who murdered poor old Charlie.

The Good
There were many people that could have murdered the victim and many of the witnesses are tight lipped about it. The case is a race against time so you may need to play it more than twice to get the murderer arrested and behind bars as the questioning is very time consuming. The acting of the witnesses was very good. The graphics are 1995 era and you have to use old computer databases to do research. Only when you put the murderer away is the game a great accomplishment as it is so hard to get that person cornered. I found that the most obvious suspects were not the murderers.

The Bad
The pushy desk captain is funny and will bark at you to hurry up and foam at the mouth if you submit a case with no legs. The crime lab will leave grouchy messages on your voice mail at the office.

The Bottom Line
The San Francisco Police pull a body out of the waterfront on the docks and your job as a detective is to ID the person and start find out who killed him. The crime lab will analyze samples you give them and you have to go all over the city interviewing over two dozen witnesses. Some are lying and many have an axe to grind toward the victim. As you get closer to solving how he was murdered your list of suspects expands to several possible leads. That is when you may run out of time as you can arrest and hold one for questioning but each has covered the tracks well. Remember you don't have a mobile phone so time flies and voice messages back at the offices have to be researched quickly.
