• At the beginning of the game, the player can create his own avatar or choose between several pre-generated characters. One of them is named "El Pollo Diablo" : it is a reference to the game The Curse of Monkey Island where El Pollo Diablo (the Chicken Devil) is a monster rumoured to haunt the jungles of Plunder Island.
• The player can choose a pirate outfit for his avatar. This may be a reference to Tropico 2: Pirate Cove.
