Description
In its core, Wanderer is a platformer in which the platforms were replaced with planets. Since everything is shown from the side without a third-dimensional component, from a mechanical standpoint the planets are circles of varying sizes on which the player character can walk. Some planets are static and others move.
The goal is to reach the exit door by jumping from planet to planet. However, the character is affected by gravity which depends on the size of the planet and how near other planets are. This means it can be hard to leave the atmosphere of a planet, but then it is possible to cover a big distance. Sometimes a big star has to be collected before the exit opens up.
There are two kinds of environmental challenges: flying meteors and monsters which circle on some planets. Touching them twice causes the level to fail, but one hit can be recovered by collecting five small stars.
