Kid Chameleon isn't the most charming platformer from the 16-bit era, but it is fun in its own right. It's worth a look if those other games didn't satisfy your need to run sideways and jump over things.

Overall, Kid Chameleon is a fair experience. Its graphics and sound won't blow you away, but the premise had potential in the world of 1992. Check it out if you're looking for a long game that will take you a while to fully complete, or if you're looking for a game that lets you drive a tank as a zombified Nazi.

It's hardly the worst game on the VC service, and I'm aware it has its defenders, but while the mask gimmick is cute, it's really no different to the way Mario changed his form by collecting mushrooms and feathers. Add it to the list of quite good games that just aren't worth 800 points because of the console they appeared on.

There's some neat ideas here and the idea of having several different characters is certainly original, but the execution is sloppy. The graphics and sound are hardly groundbreaking and the level design doesn't have any of the inventive qualities found in the Mario games. I'm sure many Sega fans have fond memories of this and nothing I say will prevent them from enjoying KC, but to anyone else I would recommend you save your points and download a Mario title (or Sonic) if you haven't done so already.
