Summary

OK at first, but no replay value...

The Good

The graphics are nice. Every turtle has its own signature move (Leonardo can walk through gates without opening them, Donatello can perform high jumps with his staff, Raphael can climb walls with his sais and Michelangelo can use his nunchucks as helicopters to float around for a short period of time).

The Bad

First off, I have to say that the multiplayer mode is NOT available. If you ever played the old TMNT 1989. arcade game and all other earlier TMNT games, then you probably know that those games contain multiplayer mode. I understand that some levels (like those when you are playing as Raphael's alter ego, the Nightwatcher), take place as one turtle, but adding the multiplayer mode could have been nice. Actually, when I realized that this mode is not available, it was very disappointing to me.

The enemy A.I. is below average. All enemies I fought were very easy to defeat. They will actually just stand there and actually won't even try to defend themselves when you attack them. It's also worth mentioning that all levels actually focus on jumping through obstacles, and you very rarely get in a fight. The game itself is very easy with a few really tricky parts. You can die as many times as you want and it doesn't matter because if your health runs out or if you fall of a ledge your turtle will just return back to life.

When you beat the game, you have the ability to play the stages again and you can collect special gold coins to unlock cheats, like big heads for the turtles, to change their weapons to broom, cheese sticks, to make bad guys Halloween looking and so on, but this feature is actually pointless because there is no replay value in the game and the cheats might amuse a kid for ten minutes.

The game, in general, is very short. If you are motivated, you can finish this game in four or five hours.

The Bottom Line

All in all, if you are a turtles fan and you want to buy this game, don't buy it. You can beat the game very quickly and won't play it ever again because there is no replay value. But, if you are curious about it, rent it, don't buy it.
