Dave Evans is an original member of Firaxis and has an extensive background in computer game programming. As Director of Software Development, he was the programming guru behind the sound engines in all of Firaxis' games, including the award winning interactive sound and music engine in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Prior to joining Firaxis in 1996, he was with MicroProse Software, where he programmed the sound engines for classics such as Pirates! Gold, Sid Meier's Colonization, Sid Meier's Civilization II and Magic: The Gathering.
Prior to that, Dave taught music at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. He graduated from the University of Baltimore where he earned a B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He has a passion for the mandolin and is the director of the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra. He lives in Towson, MD with his wife and three children.
He is currently Vice President of Product Development at ProtonMedia, an e-learning solutions company.
