Huw Ward is one of the first Rare employees that was hired by the Stamper Brothers. He started his career at the age 15 as tester at Rare in 1983, but when the QA Department at Rare started expanding, he got promoted to QA Manager and since then to these days he is still Manager of the Quality Assurance department at Rare. When Microsoft Studios acquired Rare in 2002, he also got promoted to Head of Product Analysis at Microsoft Studios, that role in parallel to QA Management at Rare. Also he did some additional design on the Donkey Kong Land series and Blast Corps.
