MicroScene, Inc. was a California company which created additional scenery expansions for the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise. The company worked closely with The Bruce Artwick Organization Ltd. in the design process.

MicroScene Inc. was founded in 1991 by Ed McDonald with the goal of creating the best possible scenery graphics for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

In 1995 MicroScene was contracted by Microsoft to provide all of the scenery content for the Flight Simulator core product. MicroScene began the task of providing scenery coverage for the entire world. Through the use and coordination of national and international aviation and land use databases, databases available from the FAA and NOAA, the Microsoft Atlas database, the Jeppesen-Sanderson aviation database and satellite photography, a world-wide database was gradually created that eventually included over 20,000 airports and accurate landforms throughout the world. Additionally, highly detailed and accurate metropolitan areas and satellite photo terrain areas were added in each version.

In 2003 Microsoft purchased MicroScene’s software and scenery database and assumed all scenery development in house.
