GamersGate AB is a worldwide digital distribution portal which was launched in April 2006 by Paradox Interactive. Theodore Bergquist is President and CEO of GamersGate as well as Paradox Interactive AB.
GamersGate acquires the gaming rights from the original publishers or developing companies in the form of licenses or complete brands. Then the games, originally available only on retail store shelves, are re-released and are available for purchase by download.
On June 8, 2011 GamersGate announced that a new "FreeGames" service was in the works offering free, ad-supported games for download. This new service was added to their website in "beta" on July 14, 2011, with the expected final release in August.
