E.M.M.E. Interactive SA (pronounced em) was founded in 1994 in Paris, France, by Philippe Guttieres-Lasry. The company published, produced and distributed educational and edutainment CD-ROM titles via associated studios.

The company experienced rapid growth during its early years and beyond, opening offices in New York, Hamburg, Germany and Rio de Janeiro.

In March of 2007, EMME was acquired by the Avanquest Software Group (formerly BVRP Software) in a "friendly takeover". Olivier Wright, CEO of EMME, became CEO Europe of Avanquest Software.
