Sega Technical Institute

Overview

Sega Technical Institute was an internal development studio of SEGA of America, Inc.. Unlike the other studios it was based in the United States and not in Japan.

The team disbanded after the cancellation of the Saturn game Sonic X-Treme. The facilities were then used to create other games, such as Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, but this was done by the Japanese staff coming from Sonic Team.

At one time, known developers Mark Cerny and Stieg Hedlund were part of the team. Some of the key team members winded up at Luxoflux.
