Alan Friswell is an artist, sculptor and writer. He is a specialist in the techniques of stop-motion model animation, which he was inspired to study after seeing the films of Willis O' Brien and Ray Harryhausen as a child. He has produced layout graphics for film and TV, such as the Steven Spielberg production An American Tail 2, and the ITV children's TV series Little Ghosts.

He has created prototype models and sculptures for TV commercials, and designed and constructed over 25 creatures and monster characters for the Mythos/Virgin Interactive game, Magic & Mayhem, using traditional stop-motion modelmaking techniques.

More recently, he has written for magazines on occult and paranormal subjects, including articles for Fortean Times, producing a guide to fabricating DIY UFO photographs; the mythology of giant pike for Animals and Men, the official magazine of the Centre for Fortean Zoology, and the history of vampire legends for Paranormal Magazine. He has also written on superstition, folklore, cannibalism, and witchcraft.

He is a photo-analyst consultant for the Centre of Fortean Zoology in Exeter, and writes a column for the Guy N. Smith magazine Graveyard Rendezvous.

Currently, he is involved with a company producing a Disney-type animation film, and is working on a stop-motion project. He lives in East London.
