Peter Sills is the Founder and CEO of Kinesoft Development Corp. (formerly of Austin, Tx).
Kinesoft is credited with creating the Exodus gaming engine for Windows '95. This effort by Kinesoft eventually led to the creation of the Direct X games development effort at Microsoft. In fact, Kinesoft's Windows games, Earthworm Jim, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, and Gex, were each innacurately credited by Microsoft as Direct X titles. Each of these was in fact created with the Exodus engine, as Direct X was not complete at the time of release of these titles.
Kinesoft is also credited with creating Knight Moves (with the creator of Tetris - Alexi Pajitnov), Comedy Classics, WinCD Professional (the first commercial CD player and database for Windows), and "It's a Wonderful Life" (the first full-length CD-ROM based movie for the Windows PC).
In addition, Kinesoft, in cooperation with GameBank of Japan, created eight Windows conversions of classic arcade/console titles for Windows - including Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory!, Battle Arena Toshinden 2, among others.
Prior to founding Kinesoft, Mr. Sills was the Director of Marketing for Intelligent Resources, a small hardware company in Illinois which created some of the first professional Digital Video Editing hardware for the Macintosh computer.
Mr. Sills was also employed at ICOM Simulations, (later purchased by Viacom as Viacom New Media). While his initial role was Producer of Optical Media Product (for CDi, CD-ROM, NEC's TurboGrafx, CDTV and FM-Towns), he later became the Manager of the Software Publishing Division where he oversaw the creation of Intermission, the first commercial screen saver product for Windows, and the marketing of the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Series, the first CD-ROM/Video based entertainment product for the PC.
Prior to ICOM/Viacom, Mr. Sills was a member of Mindscape as the Product Manager for Advanced Projects - such as CDi and the new Windows OS for the PC. It was here that Mr. Sills worked with MacroMind (later MacroMedia) in the creation of GraphicWorks (a progenitor of Flash and Director) as well as Balance of Power 1990 (Windows) with Chris Crawford - the first commercial game for Windows 1.0.
It was while at Mindscape that Mr. Sills collaborated with David Smith in the creation of The Colony, the first First-Person shooter for the PC, Macintosh and Amiga computers.
