Nice game, but takes too long

The Good
The huge amount of information available in this game is great. You can view so many details, you won't get bored.

The historical information in the game is also great to see. And the intro movie of actual war footage is nice.

The Bad
The game is difficult to learn if you've never played a similar game. Information isn't interconnected very well, causing you to go back and forth to do things.

The sheer number of units and the size of the map make it very difficult to do everything in the game yourself without having the computer control much of your side for you. If you enjoy controlling everything yourself, you're going to have some trouble here.

And, the absolute worst thing in the game... The time it takes to "run" each turn after orders are given. In the tutorial map, which is a very small area (only a few islands), it takes about 1 minute to run the turn. On the full campaign, it can take 5-10 minutes to run a single turn. Unless you are playing by e-mail where you can only take one turn per day (or whatever schedule you set up), this really reduces the fun of the game.

The Bottom Line
If you want to play the game by e-mail, this is a good game to enjoy the war against Japan (or against the Allies). If you don't want to play this way... find another game... the time for turns is just too much to make it worthwhile even if the game itself is good.
