Description official description

Streets of Fury is a 2D side-scrolling brawler where all characters are made using digitized sprites, reminiscent of 90's titles like Kasumi Ninja, Mortal Kombat or Way of the Warrior, but the gameplay is influenced primarily by Streets of Rage, Fatal Fury or also Guardian Heroes.

The game is set in the city of Paris that has fallen to the violence of street gangs. The hardened criminals are so brutal that the army goes on strike. The terrified French government uses a last resort: it brings a street gang from LA to Europe to take down the gang, restore security and give back power to the government.

The game includes two solo campaigns (The Raid and The Pact) with 60 types of opponents and five stages per campaign, each focusing on a specific gang member. Cooperative local multiplayer is supported for up to four players. Other game modes are a team and a free-for-all versus mode and a survival cooperative mode against the AI with endless enemies for the highest score. There are five difficulty levels.

The game contains nine playable characters: Sam I. Am, MC Manhattan, Big Cheng, Joe the soldier, V-Nash, No Face, Buddy "Ballbreaker" Carmichael, Void and Alias. They have different characteristics based on the parameters speed, power, combo and fury. Replaying is encouraged as all modes build up a security level shown in the main menu, gradually unlocking hidden characters and new difficulty levels. At the start only four characters and three difficulty levels are available.

To get acquainted with the gameplay there are in-game instructions, an overview of the fighting moves and training videos. The basic attacks are a punch, a kick and a strong attack. By holding a button it is possible to dash in any direction and there is depth in the background. Multiple enemies are fought at the same time and it is possible to block, counter and string together moves into combos. Gradually a fury meter is build up allowing the character to unleash devastating and exaggerated fury attacks. Each character has a very different fighting style.
