Microzine #23

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 23 contains: Letter from the Editor - Information about this issue of Microzine*

• Escape from Antcatraz: You and the other honey ants from your colony have been captured and put in the human prison of Antcatraz. Even worse, you have been separated from your queen, dooming your colony. In this 2-part story, you and you trusty scout Agent Ant must first find a way to escape from the ant prison into the wild. In the second part, the player must find a way to return to their home colony and feed their picky queen. The player navigates through a number of ant tunnels and outside terrain, and can speak to and receive hints from the other ants of the colony, including soldiers, repletes, nurses, and workers. The player must also avoid dangers including wasps, weaver ants, and other aggressive ant colonies.
• Greetings! - A program designed to make greeting cards with pictures and words.
• Math Mall - A simplified version of Math Shop, where the player must travel to different stores in a mall and quickly answer math questions. At each store, the player must use 0 or 1 of each size of an item to provide the amount of a nonsense item required by an alien. Gameplay becomes more difficult as the game progresses. The player must act quickly, because if the line in a store becomes too long, customers become frustrated and leave. Fifty angry customers, and it's game over.
• Monitor Mystery - The player receives a short vignette and picture related to a sabotaged school play. The player must answer questions, and correctly determine the culprit.
