Live A Hero

Description official description

It's said that there are infinite universes out there, and that anything that's possible has happened somewhere in another universe. That was once just a theory but now that aliens are attacking, heroes will have to harness the power of alternate universes to take them on. The player takes control of a new sidekick drafted into assisting heroes in their battles; over the course of their journey, they'll be drawn deeper into battles and the aliens' plot.

This turn-based RPG is based heavily around teamwork. Each party is made up of four heroes, along with extra heroes in reserve who can tag in after the primary party is defeated. Each battle is being livestreamed to an in-universe audience, and the audience's reaction builds up NowLivePoints that party members can use for special abilities. Unfortunately, enemies can use those points too - and with a single pool shared by both enemies and allies, players will need to watch the flow of battle carefully to make sure they maximize their use of points while denying enemies the chance to use their special abilities. In addition to heroes, players can also take sidekicks into battle; each hero can be assigned one sidekick to bring with them, who can provide heroes with extra battle abilities and passive abilities.

Like other gacha-based games, the primary way players recruit new allies is via a paid loot box with randomized heroes and sidekicks. However, players are given two free characters: the hero Akashi (earned for completing the first eleven story chapters) and their protagonist, who acts as a sidekick. Players are also given one free draw from the loot box during the first chapter of the story.

Live A Hero is created by LGBT media company Lifewonders and features a cast of LGBT characters. Like their previous game, Tokyo Afterschool Summoners, players are also free to customize their in-game character with whatever appearance or voice they want, and their character is able to be male, female, or non-binary.
