Microzine #26

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 26 contains: Letter - Stories from the editor and people who have written into Microzine*

• The Wizard of Darkling Wood - The good druid Grame has been transformed into an evil wizard by the dying wish of another, and has stolen the Eternal Lantern of the Elves. With the help of the Elf Scav, who has stolen the evil wizard's Book of Magic, you set off to Darkling Wood to retrieve the Lantern. The player explores the woods via raft, and can visit a giant's home, the Wizard's old oak tree, a dragon infested cave, and an abandoned castle. They also receive help from the druid's former friend, the witch Blithra. The Book of Magic provides background information and clues. The player explores each area via a small overhead map, and must move their character to locations of interest. When they meet other characters, they can type messages to converse, or can use items by selecting from the inventory menu. The player must learn the secret to enter the Wizard's secret lair, and there outsmart the wizard and retrieve the stolen Lantern.
• Congratulations! - A program to make and print diplomas, awards, and certificates
• Math Mall - A simplified version of Math Shop, where the player must travel to different stores in a mall and quickly answer math questions. At each store, the player is given a total volume of a liquid, and the percentage of 2 - 4 fluids it must contain. The player must determine what volume of each substance is required. The player must act quickly, because if the line in a store becomes too long, customers become frustrated and leave. Fifty angry customers, and it's game over.
• Picture This - This player must find 10 objects that don't belong in a picture of a doctor's office.
