Survival Run

Moby ID: 19167

Description

In this game you have entered some underground caverns on another planet. As you try to navigate your way through, you must destroy enemy space ships and force fields. You move the target reticle by moving the joystick and fire weapons by pressing the red button. You can see the ships coming in the distance but if they get too close they will fire on you, causing you to lose energy. If you see a force field, you will see a square to the right. Shoot the square to disable the field. If your ship hits the field, you lose energy. You gain energy when you destroy a ship or disable a force field. Use the map on the top of your screen to determine which path to take, left or right. If you choose the wrong path or run out of energy, the game is over.

Trivia

Cosmic Commander

This game came with the Cosmic Commander controller. The controller was designed to look like a futuristic flight control but functioned like any digital joystick. Here is a picture of the controller at AtariAge.com. This game was never sold as a separate package, only with the Cosmic Commander, but the game can be played with the regular joystick as well.

Replacement

If one lost their Survival Run cart or it broke, they could sent off to Milton Bradly for a replacement for $20.00.

Power Arcade Series

Survival Run was part of Milton Bradley's Power Arcade series. This series was intended for games released with special controllers which functioned like a regular joystick. The controllers Cosmic Commander (with the game Survival Run) and Flight Commander (with the game Spitfire Attack) were released. Armored Commander (with the game Tank Blitz) was advertised but never released.

Sticker

The Survival Run cart did not have the end sticker on it when one got it. The Cosmic Commander came with sticker sheets and one of them was the cart's end sticker which players had to apply themselves. The cart already had the front picture sticker.
