The loading screen shows a stylized picture of the village.
Chapters are introduced and concluded with short story sections, which are also read out aloud.
At the beginning of the first chapter, Heidi wakes up on the hayloft and is called by her grandfather.
Some characters can be talked to, which is usually required to get and complete quests.
The map can be checked at any time, and shows Heidi's current location (red arrow) and next goal (yellow star).
Some areas are locked off initially, such as by these ice shards in the distance.
Some signs and billboards can be read, and help navigate the world.
The game world is full of footpaths.
Beware of falling rocks in the more mountainous areas!

The inventory screen describes both items currently carried, as well as ones still to be found.
Every minigame is introduced by a short help screen explaining the goal and controls.

One minigame has the narrator retell fairy tales, with the player having to help out with the correct word at certain spots.
A view of Heidi and grandfather's cottage in the mountains. Like many buildings in the game, it can also be entered.
Heidi can travel quite far up the mountainside. Here, she's near the glacier.
A nice view of a mountain lake and waterfalls.
An observation point with a view of a train in the distance.
This is the village's train station. "Dörfli" just means "little village" in Swiss German.
This minigame in the style of a shooting gallery is about capturing escaped goats.
Scoring screen after a completed minigame.
The characters have a cartoonish look about them. This red-nosed fellow is the village salesman. No, he's not drunk – he has a cold!
In some sections, players have to tap specific keys in order for Heidi to keep her balance and not fall.
A valley path. The visible boulders will fall once Heidi gets close.
A chapter's final score is determined by the minigame scores and the remaining life points.
