Development
Extreme Paintbrawl was developed from start to finish in two weeks. In response to the many negative reviews designer Carlos Cuello sent a letter to PC Gamer to clarify the situation. Publisher HeadGames only gave them two weeks to develop the game before it went gold. The game also shipped without any kind of AI for the opposing players. The two-week time limit was up and they were in the process of replacing the Duke Nukem 3D bot AI.
