Psygnosis is renowned worldwide as a leading software innovator, and this is due in no small part to their contribution to PlayStation's portfolio. Look at the standards they have set with the likes of WipEout, Destruction Derby and Adidas Power Soccer.

Another impressive addition to their bulging CV is Novastorm. The lush backgrounds are streamed directly from the disc, and the overlaid action is a behind the ship shoot-em-up with 3 difficulty levels and more enemies than you can shake a stick at.

It's one of the toughest blasters on the market, and although the alternating level-guardian-level format is familiar, the environment is unique to PlayStation.
