This is the game's main menu
Everything that the cursor touches brings up some helpful text, both in the game and in the menus. This game installs in English but the language can be changed to French or German via this menu
The game comes with many scenarios, each with a detailed historical background and set of objectives.
This is the tutorial screen. The tutorial is based on a campaign that the English lost. The armies are represented by pictures of their commanders.
Moving the mouse pointer to the edge of the map causes the map to move. This is about as far east as the map of southern America goes
Just putting the cursor over a region brings up information about that region. The picture bar at the top of the screen displays the type of terrain
Armies are moved by the mouse in drag & drop style. their colour represents their status, orange is aggressive, red is very aggressive. Here the British have taken Charlotte
The Ninety-Six garrison has been tasked with taking Winesboro. This screen shows their movement path and says it will take 26 days to get there.
Camden is a major garrison, bigger than the British expected. Here the stats show an attack is being mounted by a much weaker force.
This is not just a game with land battles, there are naval units too. This is a British landing force just off shore.
The message board in the lower right keeps the player informed of progress. Double clicking on a red message, here a British defeat at Camden, brings up more information.
Clicking on the globe in the lower left brings up a book with lots more information. Each ribbon is a tag that opens up a different section in the book
The button in the top right saves the game. This save slot is overwritten by each successive save. To save and retain previous save games the CTRL key must be held when clicking the save button
