Metroid Prime 3: Corruption appears in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die by General Editor Tony Mott.

Using the scan visor function in a lab containing captive Metroids, the player will find reference to a "Project Dread", which is nearing completion.

Some gamers have assumed that this is a reference to the cancelled Metroid Dread, however Retro Studios have denied this, saying it is a coincidence.
