In 1997, a high school student taking a computer class was experimenting with a hex editor and tweaked the strings inside the game executable, as a prank and in-joke among his friends. It is unknown how this version ended up on the internet, as the IBM PS/2 machines in the computer lab had no internet access, and were obsolete by then anyway. "Bob Robert" is a joke name, and the hack was not an attempt to take credit for the game, though it may have appeared that way to some.
