SEGA Saturn screenshots
A shot from the mostly nonsensical intro
Another intro shot - this time featuring a spectacular explosion.
The main menu. Not shown - this game features a rather useless "3D mode" that presents the you with Contra in the eye-strain-o-vision.
Character select - not that it matters who you choose - they all look equally doofy, and play exactly the same.
A level 1 loading screen. You'll see this quite a bit.
Like in classic Contra games the player has to fight his way through a number of set-piece mid-boss battles in each level.
Fighting regular enemies - since the game is so hard and unfair, it's much easier to just dash past all the fluff between boss encounters.
Battling a crude polygonal tank.
Another mid-boss. This one has a predictable yet annoying attack pattern.
Yet another mid-boss. There is no strategy to kill this one - just point and shoot.
First level boss. Your biggest worry here is the camera position which fails to show all the enemies behind you.
Beginning level 2 - Jungle.
Fighting some sort of a flame-thrower-bot-thing.
Level 3 starts with a bunch of rocket-launching mechs.
The river battle
Auto-scrolling fight with a scorpion
Some kind of a pulsing scull-sphere mid-boss.
This is a very short stage where your player is in freefall, while fighting some sort of a large master-cylinder-looking robot.
Trapped inside the villain's brain, the player is forced to do some wholly impossible platform-jumping.
Battling a "virtual reality" tank.
Final level - move over Katamari Damacy and Psychonauts - this stage is spherical... though unlike the other games it features some truly terrible controls and camera.
