A shot from the intro - anti-hero 'Vagrant' is off in search of the mythical Edmonton.
A closer look at the protagonist, and a sample of his mechanically-themed 'humor.'
Unlike the first game, you begin HTA: RoC not in a truck - but in a light, speedy buggy.
A meeting with Sam, self-styled ruler of 'Sam's Lands' and Americana enthusiast.
Sam's HQ is a giant half-finished reconstruction of a well-known monument.
Some of the tweaks in RoC: You can now paint your vehicle in multiple different colors and add logos to it. Different logos affect your 'grace' (reputation).
The character screen. This shows your current reputation, stats and 'perks' (rewards for attaining various goals).
Combat against multiple opponents. Bashing someone out of the way is often the best tactic.
Arrival in a small town
Buying weapons.
The post-apoc world still looks like a charming place to visit - if it weren't for all the bandits.
There are some interesting things to find, if you look around...
Passing through a junkyard at dusk.
The map will help you get your bearings, keep track of goals and check prices when trading goods.
Each town belongs to a different faction, which can be friendly or hostile toward you. Luckily, these guys are my friends at the moment.
Talking to a, um, a farmer.
As I'm leaving town, the gun emplacements open fire on a hostile raiding party.
Down on the coast
Approaching Sam's desert fortress.
At certain points, you will be temporarily removed from your truck and forced to use something else. Here, I'm in a tank, fighting haywire robots.
A farming community. Looks like all is not well here...
The people here are drilling for oil.
There are plenty of special items to find, including newspapers and magazines. The English translation is pretty awful, though...
The multiplayer modes offer a more 'arcade' style experience, with weapons and power-ups scattered around.
